What is FLL?
FLL (FIRST® LEGO® League) is a worldwide program that teaches STEM to children with an engaging, hands-on, team-oriented approach. Students solve engineering challenges and develop research skills by building a unique robot and developing solutions to real-world problems. At the end of each season, the students celebrate their work through friendly competition with teams from several schools.
The Ravens founded Royal Oak FLL in 2023. Since then, the program has expanded to all six Royal Oak elementary schools for students from Pre-K to 5th grade. Students work together to solve challenges in teams of 3-8 with experienced high school mentor to guide them throughout the season. Each team builds their own Lego-based robot, designs a solution to a global issue, and prepares to compete and present their work to a judging panel at our competition in December. The students learn valuable skills in communication and engineering throughout the season, and have a lot of fun in the process!
